The Fish are Growing!
The fish are growing! The Rainbow Trout are just finishing the alevin stage and are growing fast! They are still feeding from their yoke, but it is almost gone. They are beginning to swim up to the surface. When 75% are swimming up, and the ATU (accumulated thermal units) of the tank has reached 550, they will be released from the incubation tank into the main body of the tank. The fish had their first water change last week. Approximately 1/3 of the tank water was removed, disinfected and disposed of. It was replaced with newly treated tap water. This helps reduce waste in the tank. The water changes will be performed 2x a week from now until the fish are released to the wild. Check back to see some videos of the fish swimming freely in the big tank!
